"A taste of Algeria" - A collection of authentic Algerian recipes {Giveaway}

السلام عليكم Greetings friends!

- I invite you to follow me on social network FaceBook
HERE

My good friend Emma is the founder of Algerian Action, a non-profit charity project that aims to bring some relief to needy and impoverished families in Algeria.  The charity has 5 ongoing campaigns :
Essentials, Bags for Babies, Just Squares, Project Washables and Eid Gift Bag Appeal. You can find out more about the charity and is campaigns on the Algerian Action website:

And as a part of the charities's efforts they have put together a collection of authentic Algerian recipes in English, called "A taste of Algeria".

Recipes were collected by women from all over the world with ties to Algeria. All the recipes are authentic, test-tasted and all the recipes are in English. And the best part ... all the funds collected from the sale of the book to directly to the families that the charity is helping. I’ve been eagerly awaiting the release of this book for some time now. I had the privilege of submitting my own recipes for the cookbook. And hearing about the development of the book I couldn’t wait to see it in print.
'A taste of Algeria'
This book is meant to be just that, a taste of Algeria. The cuisine of this spectacular North African country is so vast and varied that it would take an entire library of books to really showcase the culinary delights and delicacies that the region has to offer. However, what this book attempts to do is to offer a glimpse into the Algerian kitchen, to provide a selection of delicious, authentic recipes both sweet and savoury for you to try at home.
All of the recipes found here have been generously submitted by women; home-cooks that have a connection with Algeria be it through birth, heritage or marriage.
All profits made from the sale of the book will assist destitute families living in Algeria.

There’s so many wonderful recipes to dive into within the book’s pages, and if you’ve never experienced Algerian food (and follow my blog) then you’re in for a treat. It’s a fantastic blend of distinct cultures, sometimes moving in one direction before coming back to another. It’s African, it’s Arabic, It’s Turkish, it’s French, it's Creole, it's Mediterranean, and it’s all delicious. In fact, several recipes from the book have become standards all over the world.

The book is in paperback, 86 pages with over 50 recipe. Printed in A5 type, it is divided into 2 main sections - Savoury and Sweet. Then sub-categorized by dish type: soup, main dishes, side dishes, bread, cakes and biscuits. Algerian favourites like M'hadjeb, Karantita, Tadjine Zitoun, and Makrout el louz and many, many more can be found in the book.

The book is out now and available from the Algerian Action website here. And in fact, Emma has had to put in an order for the second printing of the cookbook. Order a copy and try some recipes, won’t you?

In the meantime, I am happy to announce there’s a book giveaway! {Squeal} Emma has honoured me by allowing me host a giveaway here for her.
