Fruit smoothies are ideal nourishment for the body. They are highly nutritious alternatives to
beverages like tea and coffee. And even a nice breakfast on-the-go for busy people. Even great vechile for vitamins for poor eaters and picky children. And finally a wonderful subsitute for dessert. Today, I propose this smoothie combination for you to cool down with these hot summer days!
If you have over ripe bananas, just place them in a freezer bag and pop into the freezer. They're great to use in banana bread and smoothies like this!

KNIFE, BLENDER, CUPS

۞ = SUBSTITUTIONS

  • 10 pitted dates
  • 3 ripe bananas
  • 1 cup coconut milk or cow milk
  • pinch (about 1/8 tsp) cinnamon, ground cloves, ginger, nutmeg, allspice
  • ¼ tsp vanilla essence

PIT the dates and tear them into more managable size. Peel and cut the banana into chunks.

PLACE all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and frothy.

POUR into glasses and sprinkle with a little ground cinnamon on top.

Serve this smoothie cold or room temperature. Great when paired with banana or a slice of buttered multi-grained bread or my best-ever banana bread.

    Storage
Store this smoothie in the fridge or a thermos for up to one day.

    Variations
You can use other varieties of date instead of the Deglet Nour, even baking dates/date paste would work here. Just adjust the amounts to taste.

    Vegan
To make this smoothie vegan and dairy free, use almond or coconut milk.
